What Do Colors Make?

Colors can confuse me.
I get so mixed up sometimes.
Singing this- song will help
Me remember how to mix.
My teacher wants me to learn
And I must know NOW NOW NOW.
'Cause here we go, mixin' up colors.

WHAT DO BLUE & YELLOW MAKE?
Green-green-green-green-green Ga-ga-green!
Green-green-green-green-green Ga-ga-green!
Green-green-green-green-green Ga-ga-green!
BLUE AND YELLOW!

Wa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ow!
Wa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ow!
Wa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ow!

What do RED & YELLOW make?

Oree-oree-oree-ange!
Oree-oree-oree-ange!
Oree-oree-oree-ange!

RED & YELLOW!

Ya-ya- ya-ya ya-ya Yes!
Ya-ya- ya-ya ya-ya Yes!
Ya-ya- ya-ya ya-ya Yes!

What do colors make?

Now we've made green & orange.
Let's review some facts we know.
Colors that you start with
Primary: Red, Blue, Yellow
First there's red, so beautiful
Like a sunburned strawberry.
But then there's blue, a calming color,
like an ocean wave rolling
oooon oooon oooon.
oooon oooon oooon.
Then Yellow like the su-uh-uh-uh-un
Uh-uh-uh-uh-un
RED, BLUE & YELLOW!!

Yet yet yet yet what now?
Yet yet yet yet what now?
Yet yet yet yet what now?

What do BLUE & RED make?
Pur pur pur pur pur pur Purple!
Pur pur pur pur pur pur Purple!
Pur pur pur pur pur pur Purple!
BLUE & RED!

Ahee ahee-a Ha Hee!
Ahee ahee-a Ha Hee!
Ahee ahee-a Ha Hee!

What do Colors Make?

Aooo aooo (howl)

The secret of colors, ancient mystery
somewhere deep in this song I know you're hiding.
What do you maaaake? Will we ever know?
Will it always be a mystery? What do you make?!
You're my Color Panda hiding in this song.
What do you make? Will we ever know?
Will it always be a mystery? What do you maaaake?! [Echo>(Blue and yellow make green.
Red and yellow make orange.)
Will we... [Echo>(Blue and red make purple)
...ever knooow?  I want to - I want to - I want to know!
[Echo>(That's how you mix the colors!)

Here is a "ColorJingle" that I wrote to the tune of "What Does the Fox Say?"
You can purchase a karaoke version of the song on iTunes or find karaoke versions on YouTube. Elementary kids can use it for color mixing. My seventh graders liked it just because it was goofy. I sang it at the top of my lungs to them, using dramatic gestures. I plan to teach it to them next year!

What an easy way to remember. I must make a point to memorise this. Colours always confuse me :-)
